NBA Weekend Recap: Warriors Lose and Almost Blow It, Thunder Aren’t There Yet X AD for 59-20

Warriors Lose and Almost Blow It

What can I say? The Trailblazers put a shalacking on the Warriors winning 137-105. Damian Lillard had a career high in points going for 51 while his team shot 53% from the field and 56% from the 3.

With a determined Lillard with a chip on his shoulder for being snubbed as an All-Star, and the Warriors not executing, it lead to an embarrassing outing for the standard bearing team of the NBA. Hopefully, they would bounce back from this stumble and be on point against the Clippers to stay on track to beat the Bulls’ record……

Then the 4th quarter of the Clippers vs Warriors game happened. Draymond Green had his 11th triple double, Steph and Klay were sent off into the sunset. The Warriors have just coasted to a victory on the road which looked like a home game. The deep bench was put in, and all hell broke loose.

Wesley Johnson and Pablo Prigioni literally almost won the game for the Clippers in garbage time via steals and 3’s, to the point it was a 3 point game and the starters from the Warriors came back in. But then, there was another turnover (standard for the Warriors at this point) CJ Wilcox gathered the ball, and instead of passing, took a 1/4 quart heave the was short to send the game to overtime.

The Warriors are turnover prone, and it has almost killed them two games in a row. To be careless with the ball that much, shows laziness or grandiosity. Either which, if there aren’t anymore reality checks than what they had the past two games, they should be prepared to be dethroned come playoff time.

Thunder Not There Yet

I’ll leave this one short and sweet….The Thunder need another scorer to compete! When it comes to these elite teams-Cavs, Warriors, Spurs-the Thunder really need someone else to defer to to score.

Serge Ibaka is not a primary scorer in any aspect. He’s not even a good defender anymore. He’s just another player now. Steven Adams and Enes Kanter are way more productive.

Dion Wiaters. Oh boy. Not a good fit at all. Won’t be. Can’t be. He should’ve been traded with the quickness. He’s 1-14 since the All-Star Break and continues to delve deeper into obscurity.

They need more than a scorer, but more capable bodies. Starting Kanter and Adams would be a better fit for their team while leaving Ibaka on the bench. Outrebounded by 6, Kevin Love having a Cavs career game, LeBron dominating again, and the Thunder missing that 3rd James Harden type roles player. This is going to be a long run to the playoffs.

AD For 59-20

Has Anthony Davis finally arrived? The 3 time all-star created history last night in Detroit. He has become the youngest player to record 59 points and 20 rebounds in a game. Wait…He has become the youngest player to record 59 points and 20 rebounds in a game. That’s ridiculous!

Davis was even going up against and elite paint protector in Andre Drummond and a defensive minded team of Detroit. Who didn’t play a lick of defense at all it seems.

I think it’s settled as of now that AD is a superstar in this league. He’s already averaging 24.3 PPG and 10.1 RPG for a team riddled by injuries and has fallen off since their playoff run last year. After this outburst of athletic dominance, he’s reached the upper echelon of NBA superstars. He’s only headed up from here.
