The Kings are Looking To Fire George Karl…wait jk. He’s Staying đź‘Ť

My favourite storyline this year besides the Warriors’ run for history and the Sixers’ reignited play, happens to come from Sac-Town.

The Kings are one of the most dysfunctional team in the NBA. Spearheaded by one of my favourite big men of all-time, Vlade Divac, this organization has not been stable whatsoever. Rumors of moving to Seattle then staying in Sacramento, hiring Mike Malone, then firing him to hire Hall of Famer, George Karl to now wanting to fire him because of differences, power struggle and under performance.

This is laughable. They’re courting all of these coaches to hopefully marry them to DeMarcus Cousins to see if they can tame the beast. All coaches have failed to maintain a happy mutual relationship, so hopefully George Karl a hall of fame coach and cancer survivor would be able to right? Eh…not really.

It’s been a struggle for Karl to produce wins with a roster without any talent. Besides Rondo, Cousins and Gay, who else on this team can produce on a nightly basis to be elite? He has elevated DMC’s game to another level. Rondo is back to being an elite PG. Rudy Gay has shown flashes of being Rudy Gay. Omari Casspi has been balling out this year especially from the 3 point line (42%). Besides him, they’re hit or miss. And they missed sitting at 21-29 as of today 2/9/16. Which has left George Karl on the hot seat again.

It’s not about his relationship with DMC that was considered a detriment to the team which had Rondo, Cousins and Karl having a meeting to air out grievances. As DMC put it to Rich Bucher of Blearcherreport:

Everybody within the organization, including  myself is fed up with the nonsense… We want to win want to win now. We don’t have to like each other. We don’t have to love each other…as long as we step in between those lines we’re on the same page were trying to get the job done.

It’s all about performance now. They are not performing up to par. However, they have subpar talent in multiple facets of their roster.

Supposedly, George Karl could possibly not stick around past the All-Star Break. But then news broke that Karl is now going to stay after a backing by Divac.

Hopefully, Karl is keeping his job because they realized its talent and not the coach that the Kings are sitting 10 games under .500. The 5th all time winningest coach will keep his job for now. We honestly don’t want to see another good coach being fired because of a crappy roster with a huge star that he already maxed to potential. But, without much changes in the roster to compliment true PG Rondo and Swiss Army knife big man DMC, his time may be coming to an end in Sac-Town with mediocrity and obscurity continuing to be on the horizon in California’s capital.
