Warriors’ Quest For History

Last night, Steph Curry was on the cusp of history . He needed one more 3 pointer to tie the record for 3 point field goals in a game at 12 held by Donyell Marshall and Kobe Bryant. But that’s not the only record that’s being chased in the Bay Area:

73 is the magic number to surpass the Bulls in most wins in NBA history. Which means they have to go 28-5 the rest of the way. They’re 22-0 at home but faltered on the road with a 23-4 record. It’s doable in a numbers standpoint.

55 is the number of threes Steph Curry needs to break his own record for three point field goals in a season. That’s puts him at making roughly 2 3’s per game. He averages 4.9 for the season. This record would solidify him in the top 5 all time three point makes in a season in 3 of the 5 spots #treysfordays.

526 the number of 3’s needed to make by Klay Thompson and Steph Curry to break their own record for most 3’s by a tandem. As of 2/4/16 they stand at 387 needing 139 to break it with 4.2 threes per game between the two to break it. It can be done and expect it to.

32 is the magic number for Draymond Green to break the record for most triple doubles in a season. He’s averaging near at triple double with 14.5 PPG 9.5 RPG 7.4 APG. It’s a little far fetched to see him match Oscar Robertson as the only person to average a triple double, and break his record. But hey, crazier things have happend!

The Warriors are playing above and beyond another level right now. They have had their slips and falls with comebacks from their opponents when they have a 20 point advantage (Let us not forget that John Wall had 41 and 10 last night but got in foul trouble so he couldn’t finish the comeback run in the third to help pull them in front. But he still held is own being aggressive). They’re human. They bleed as we do. However, they are subhuman in the fact that they’re chasing history one game at a time. And as fans of basketball, we should all be tuning in because there may not be a time when this happens again. It is a phenomena that has reached across the nation and world. The Greatest Show on the Hardwood. History unfolding right before our eyes. Love it. Embrace it. Appreciate it. Damn well enjoy it.
