Quick Thought: Lovie Smith firing, football decision or business?

The majority of football owners are business men. These men take their businesses very seriously. They are a reflection of them as a person and as an entity. If the business is a failure, then the owner is now portrayed as a failure. So is that what was happening  with Lovie Smith?

I have a giant propensity for progression. It may be my downfall. I see it as the key to becoming truly whole and reaching ones full potential by incrementally making adjustments for the better. That is what I believed Lovie Smith was doing.

Lovie Smith was taking a 2-14 team and turning them into a progressing and competing 6-10 team with a rookie quarterback. To only be shown the door while showing progression.

On a business standpoint, the Tampa Bay Area is a medium to small market boasting a whooping 2.8 million people, averaging $38 per customer with a revenue of $313m, a team value of $1500m, a one year value change of 23% and the 24th ranked franchise per Forbes as of September 2015. Their attendance percentage for 2014 was 90.9 but has risen to 93.5 percent for the 2015 season per ESPN.

Numbers wise…..THEY ARE GETTING BETTER. On the field….THEY ARE GETTING BETTER. So why in the blue hell are they firing a guy who’s progress seems to correlate, but not the cause, with on the field to off the field progress. What the hell are you doing? Let the man coach it has been 2 bloody years. I’m not even a Bucs fan but people should be outraged.

Who knows, maybe they have someone waiting in the wings that management wants to coach. I have no idea, just making an observation.
