Quick Thoughts: Is Steph Curry Even The Best On His Team Now?

Steph Curry. The man, the myth, the legend. The single hand revolution of the NBA, seems to have taken a turn in the backseat on the rise of superstardom for the season for his Dubs.

Although Steph is averaging 29.3 PPG 5.3. RPG and 6.3 APG, he is dealing with lower leg injuries that have curtailed him for a couple of games. It even garnered him an early exit against the Lakers last night (even though they ran roughshod on them anyway).

During Steph’s absence and limitations recently, his other Splash Brother, Klay Thompson, and the scrappy Draymond Green have been ballin’ out.

In the last 4 games Klay is averaging 32.5 PPG 5.25 APG and shooting 45% from 3 point land. He also scored 22 of his 36 last night…. IN THE 1st QUARTER!!

Draymond Green, before last night, had 3 straight triple doubles. And to do that with a depleted first line and a second line that barely scores and runs into defenders at will (ahem Ian Clark) is pretty damn amazing.

Don’t get me wrong, the reigning MVP is by far, BY FAR, the greatest player in the world…when healthy. But even when unfit for form, he still has a presence on the court that draws eyes and bodies. On the court and off- nose bleed seats for Warriors v Sixers are $165 per seat for a 33-2 v 4-33 team 😐, the man draws.

With Chef Curry out it has given his mates a chance to show out. Maybe Draymond goes for 20 triple doubles in a year? Maybe Klay Thompson gets his average up to 35 PPG? We will all be watching as they take the ‘Greatest Show on Hardwood’ across the country in front of millions of diehard faithfuls and bandwagon jumpers to propel the Warriors’ lore and awe to an even more all time high than it already is. 77-5 anyone?

Oh btdubs! The Spurs are 20-0 at home and Kawhi Leonard is shooting 50% from 3 point range. Just so you know.

  1. Nice story bro, I legitimately agree; I also think Draymond has legitimate MVP, and MIP award possibilities. Check out my blog and give me a follow if you feel so compelled.
